The Name "Tuco-tuco": "Tuco-tuco" is probably a native South American word for the animal, possibly imitative of its sound. But this is unknown.

Location: Southern Peru.

Habitat: Terrestrial. In arid, sandy terrain in steppes, grasslands, and upland plateaus.
