Location and Land
There are four layers in the rainforest the emergent layer the canopy, understory and the forest floor. The emergent layer has giant trees and is home to birds and some insects. The canopy is the upper part of the trees and is a very leafy environment filled with birds, reptiles, mammals and more. Another layer is the understory, which is a dark cool environment that is under the leaves, but over the ground. The last layer is the forest floor. The forest floor is filled with animals and especially insects. The largest animals in the rainforest live on the forest floor.

The rainforest is located in Latin America, West Africa, and Southeast Asia. Only 3 million square miles of the rainforest are left. Latin America has most of the rainforest. The rainforest grows on mountains and seacoasts, yet the soil is very poor.
