About Elk or Wapiti
The elk is one of the most widespread deer in the world. It lives in forests, woodlands, and open hillsides, where it eats leaves, buds, and bark. In the fall mating season, they roar at their rivals, then lock antlers, pushing and twisting to throw each other off balance. Calves are born in the late spring and have dappled fur for camouflage.
