Hazing of double-crested cormorants has started in several areas along the Oregon coast to improve survival rates of juvenile salmon and steelhead.

The goal is to reduce predation by the fish-eating birds on the fish that are heading out to sea during the time when bird numbers are highest in coastal estuaries.
